Jay's Surgery :(

So here is an update on our little angel. First of all Jay was born with a cyst on his left chest. Let me tell you...after pushing the little guy out and not even being able to see him yet, to hear the doctor say, "what is that?" was traumatizing! They had to rush him away to clean out his lungs and get his blood pressure back up. Matt thought right away that his heart developed outside his chest! We were pretty worried and as they took me downstairs from labor and delivery to the mother baby floor, I stopped in the nursery where Matt gave Jay the sweetest blessing. All my fears left after this sweet blessing. Jay was diagnosed with what is called a cystic hygroma. Basically his lymph nodes just didn't develop right in this area and lots of fluid built up and cysts formed.

This picture is when we had a MRI a week ago and it was so hard! Our appointment was at 2pm and I couldn't feed him after 9am! It was so hard to not feed my hungry little guy. I felt like an abusive mom! They had to heavily sedate him so he wouldn't move. I got to hold him as they gave him his IV and watched him fall asleep. It was so sad! We got the results and they said that luckily, the cyst does not involve his lungs or heart or neck. This was such good news! However, it is all intertwined in his arteries, veins and nerves in his armpit. They want to do surgery within a month and remove as much as they can. There is a 15-20% chance it can grow back though. He will have to be in the hospital for 3 days! It will be so hard to see our little angel all tethered to machines. We are so glad that it is not too serious though! It could have been a lot worse.

It is so hard to have anything wrong with your precious little angel. I am glad that the surgery wont involve anything with his lungs and heart and stuff. Carters cyst was not that big at all! But it has been growing alittle bit. I hate stuff like that!
He is so cute!

SO glad everything will be okay. I actually had a friend whose baby had the same sort of thing. He had surgery and was totally fine.

Hope everything goes well with the surgery. That's pretty scary but it sounds like he should be just fine. Great news it doesn't involve any major organs. What a sweet little baby! Good luck and make sure you post on how everything goes.
