We are HOME!

Wow. This was quite the experience! The surgery took 5 hours and he did so well, he didn't even need to go to the ICU afterwards (which was the plan.) He didn't loose much blood and he really did great. But when I went into the recovery room, he was already awake and was so cranky! This didn't change till the next day :(. That first day was really hard. He was in a lot of pain and was pulling on all the cords and wires attached to him. He didn't want to be anywhere but in our arms, so I sat in the recliner for 2 1/2 days holding him. It was nice to snuggle though because he hasn't done that in a long time :) We got him off the morphine the second day, and as soon as we did, our little boy started to come back. We were able to go home after we got his pain under control. I was so worried that it would be so hard at home and that I would be sitting with him all day! The second we got home, he just changed!! He was running around, playing with toys and I had to calm him down so he wouldn't hurt himself! He does have 2 large drains in him with 2 really big pouches. We have strapped these to his back to keep them out of the way and so far, they haven't bothered him too much. They are just so big and bulky!

We get the drains removed on Friday if he isn't draining anymore. The incision is huge, but it doesn't seem to bother him yet. I can't believe what they were able to do! They took away a lot of extra skin and it is all flat! I can't wait to see what it looks like in a few weeks!

Pre-Surgery - This pic is so funny! I just said, "Jay" and this is the face I got.

To make things even better, the surgery was delayed an hour and a half and we had a boy who was fasting and a mom who was queezy from all the smells and stress. Dad did so good to entertain this boy for a long time!
We had to say, "Jay, where's your boobie?" one more time. We can't say that anymore!
Mom and Jay pre-surgery. A Happy boy that has no idea what is going to happen :(
Mom and Jay Post-surgery. It was so sad. Look at all the wires attached to him. This doesn't show the 2 huge drains coming out of him under the blanket too. There were 7 cords coming from him at 1 time :(
After he got off the Morphine, he was so much happier! This is the famous face when we ask him where his teeth are. You have to click on this pic to see his funny face!
This is a terrible picture. The nurse took it not me!!! I will post a better picture when we get a chance to take his bandages off soon.
GOING HOME!!!
I took this today, 4 days after surgery at grandpa's house. This is seriously my new favorite picture of him!!! He is doing so well now!!!!!
